Gloves For People with Hand Tremors

gloves for hand tremors

Tremor is the most disturbing symptom that appears in Parkinson’s disease or essential tremor. It interferes with hand functions and makes it very difficult for a patient to perform self-care tasks.

There have been developed many types of gloves that are available on the market. However, not all of them suit people with tremors.

We did some research and compiled a list of the 7 best gloves for people with hand tremors. The list includes both weighted and light gloves. Most of these gloves feature adapted weights that fit comfortably to each hand. some of them are used for training exercises, but may also help those with tremors.

The list also includes gloves that are made for people with arthritis. But because of their compression, non-slip, and discrete stretching design, we think they may also help those with hand tremors.  Wearing these gloves will enhance circulation and relieve pain due to tremor and stiffness. Moreover, they would also help to grab things easily.

So have a look at the list below and choose the gloves you think are best for your loved ones suffering from hand tremors.

  1. Why are these all black? Ladies with essential tremor who NEED to get out and socialize, like playing card games or BINGO at social functions or Senior Citizens’ group meetings, and would like to do their own handwriting again, would probably prefer something in the tan-to-peach spectrum, that would not make them look like they’re trying to be prize-fighters.

  2. Please could you help me out, what is the best weighted glove to use for a 5 year old who has ataxia to help her handwriting. She has tremors and her handwriting is very shaky and would she also need a wrist weight or arm weight to help?

    • Thank you Trish Maclntyre for the comment. Please note that no gloves have been designed yet that could completely treat the hand tremors. Nonetheless, there are gloves available on the market that could help reduce the tremor effects while writing. In your situation, it’s better to use weighted gloves that stabilize her fingers so that she is more likely to write the correct letters. We would recommend the 1st from the list, although we are not sure whether they could fit 5 years old kid.
